About BeeHints
BeeHints is for the moment you are stuck on today's Spelling Bee and want a nudge, not a spoiler. Every morning we post hints that give away a little more at each step, so you decide how much help you get.
Who runs BeeHints
BeeHints is made and run by Muhammad Afzaal Afzal, a software developer based in Germany, who is responsible for the hints and the guides on this site. Full details are in the legal notice.
How the hints are made
A new puzzle goes live every day at 3 a.m. Eastern time. BeeHints checks for it every hour from then on, so the new day is usually here by about 3:10 a.m. Eastern. It reads the day's letters and answer list and builds everything from it automatically: the word and point counts, the letter grid, the two-letter list, the rank thresholds and the pangram hints.
The short clue for each word comes from Wiktionary definitions via the Free Dictionary API, with the word itself hidden. When a word has no dictionary entry yet, its card shows a spelling hint instead (its ending, a double letter or its vowels), and the job keeps looking for a clue on later runs. Clues are machine picked, not written by hand, so the odd one can be off.
How we check it
Every day is checked before it goes live: seven different letters, every answer uses the center letter and every pangram uses all seven. A day that fails is held back rather than published. The scoring and rank numbers are calculated with the published rules (see how to play). If you spot a mistake, tell us and we will check it and correct it.
What else is here

- A solver for any seven letters, and a word tracker that shows what is left without spoilers.
- An archive with every day we have recorded, and guides to ranks, rules and strategy.
