Questions and answers
Can I play Spelling Bee for free?
Yes. BeeHints has a free seven-letter puzzle every day that plays by the same simple rules as Spelling Bee, with no account, no paywall and no limit on how many words you find. The official Spelling Bee is published by The New York Times, which limits how far you can play without a subscription.
Is this the New York Times Spelling Bee?
No. It is BeeHints' own daily puzzle built from everyday English words. If you want help with the official puzzle, our daily hints and answers pages cover it.
When does the free puzzle change?
A new free puzzle starts every day at midnight Eastern time, and everyone gets the same letters, so you can compare scores with friends.
How do I play?
Make words of four or more letters from the seven letters. Every word must use the center letter, and letters can repeat. Four-letter words score 1 point, longer words 1 point per letter, and a pangram that uses all seven letters earns 7 bonus points.
What if I want more than one puzzle a day?
